Report Generator View
Introduction
Report Generator is an extension developed by Softacus that is able to start the generation of a document from a DOORS Next mini dashboard including the section with configuration comparison, which gives us possibilities to enhance any of the Publishing Engine Templates and make the generating more user-friendly.
Use Cases and Features
Based on the functionalities and use cases that this extension is helping you with, the current version of the extension contains:
Widget information section - section with version, short description and other information about the extension
Dropdown for selection of Baseline – Seamlessly navigate and select the desired baseline through an intuitive dropdown interface.
Checkbox selection – Empowering you with control, the checkbox selection enables you to decide whether the comparative section should be included in your printed document, tailoring the output to your precise needs
Main button - after all necessary selections are made this button must be pressed to start an extension
The extension has been developed with primary focus on facilitating document printing, incorporating a comparison section within a document, comparing two distinct configurations (stream to baseline, baseline to baseline). These configurations are congruent with the aesthetic presentation of the user interface.
The Report Generator View widget has the following features:
Tailored Attribute Selection: Choose from a diverse array of DNG attributes to print, dynamically adapting to different artifact types and viewpoints.
Attribute Display Customization: Specify whether attribute names should accompany values, and define formatting preferences, including bold or non-bold text.
Table Integration: Seamlessly incorporate attributes within tables, and refine table properties, such as column width and attribute nomenclature, offering divergence from DNG attributes if needed.
Artifact Filtering: Apply filters to artifacts, focusing precisely on the elements that matter most.
It is important to note that all the aforementioned functionalities, with the exception of the last one, are already integrated into the Rational Publishing Engine Multiple-Purpose Template. However, these need to be defined through the RPE MPT Command, as delineated in the provided documentation.
The widget incorporates a checkbox feature that facilitates the selection of whether the comparative section should be included in the printed document. At present, the comparison can be executed between Stream and Baseline or Baseline and Baseline. This comparative section will be appended to the conclusion of the document, beneath a customizable heading that can be tailored to your specific requirements.
Preconditions and Restrictions
The widget is currently designed to work only while a DNG module is opened. If the user does not meet this requirement, the widget will show an error message.
